Bollywood actor
Taapsee Pannu, who is known for her strong performances in the movies has
turned a year older today. Over the years, Taapsee has developed a reputation
for tackling trolls in the wittiest way possible.

The Delhi
born actor gained immense popularity after starring in south cinema. She has
given some extraordinary performances in films like ‘Pink’, ‘Baby’, ‘Naam
Shabana’.

As Taapsee
celebrates her 33rd birthday today, let’s take a look at some of her best films
so far.

Thappad
(2020)

Directed by
Anubhav Sinha, ‘Thappad’ is a story of a simple girl Amrita who is married to
Vikram, played by Pavail Gulati. Taapsee can be seen playing a perfect wife and
an ‘Adarsh Bahu.’ However, it all shatters one day when during a house party,
her frustrated husband slaps her.

She begins
to understand the cracks in her relationship and realises she doesn’t love him
any longer. The slap sort of triggers a journey of self-awareness, and she
decides to divorce him and seek a separate existence.

Saand Ki
Aankh (2019)

Taapsee
managed to win hearts with her strong performance in the movie where she played
a 65-year-old woman who becomes the best shooter and eventually won medals at
that age. The movie is a biopic on octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro Tomar,
played by Bhumi Pednekar and Prakashi Tomar, beautifully essayed by Taapsee
Pannu.

The film is
about how it is possible to have new beginnings at any age if you have the will
for it

Badla (2019)

Yet another
powerful performance by Taapsee Pannu, ‘Badla’ is an official remake of the
2017 Spanish movie ‘The Invisible Guest’. In the movie, Badal Gupta, played by
Amitabh Bachchan is a defense attorney who hasn’t lost a criminal case in his
career spanning 40 years. He meets a new client Naina Sethi, played by Taapsee
Pannu, who is accused of killing her lover, Tony Luke.

It is
interesting to watch how Gupta exposes a web of lies and half-truths. Taapsee
brings forth different shades as the story unfolds.

Soorma
(2018)

Directed by
Shaad Ali, ‘Soorma’ is an inspirational film based on the life of former hockey
player Sandeep Singh. He was a natural drag-flicker and holds the record for
the fastest drag flick ever recorded. Taapsee played his love interest in the
film. She’s also a sportswoman and hence becomes a great motivator for him.

Taapsee
learned hockey for the movie and watching her is a treat for the audience. Her
interaction with Diljit Dosanjh (Sandeep Singh) was also refreshingly natural.
In 2006, Sandeep’s promising career was cut short when a stray bullet hit him
in the back while he was traveling in the Shatabdi Express. He was paralysed
from the waist downwards but after around a year of rehabilitation, came back
to play hockey for India once more. India won the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey
tournament under his captaincy in 2009. Soorma is based on his remarkable
story.

Mulk (2018)

Taapsee
Pannu played a feisty lawyer in the movie which focussed on the rights of
minorities. The movie talks about loving the country irrespective of what
religion you belong to. Shahid Mohammed, played by Prateik Babbar is the
wayward nephew of advocate Murad Ali Mohammed (Rishi Kapoor). His younger
brother, Bilaal Mohammed (Manoj Pahwa), runs a small electronics shop. His
elder son is settled in England, along with his Hindu wife, Aarti (Taapsee
Pannu), who too is a lawyer. Shahid is accused of being a terrorist. He’s
killed in an encounter and his father is arrested for having a connection with
terrorists. Worse, Murad himself, who is fighting his brother’s case, is
slapped with a charge of collusion. Now it’s up to daughter-in-law Aarti to
clear the family name by winning the case in the court.
