Jock Zonfrillo, Australian TV presenter and celebrity chef died at the age of 46 on Monday, which led many anti-vaxxer trolls to speculate that his death was related to the Covid vaccine.
Network 10 announced the chef’s death on May 1, the same day that the network was supposed to air the 2023 season of MasterChef Australia. Zonfrillo’s wife and children also stated that their hearts were “shattered” by the news of his death. “So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told… for those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky.”

Zonfrillo’s dead body was discovered by the police in a Melbourne residence while the authorities were doing a welfare check on the house. It is not clear what triggered the welfare check. The chef’s cause of death is not yet known. It was confirmed that the police is not investigating the death as suspicious.
Soon after news of Zonfrillo’s death went viral on social media, people on the internet began to speculate that his death could have been caused by a Covid vaccine. However, the unproven deduction was slammed by a number of people on Twitter, who called anti-vax people “vile” and “insensitive.” Some also suggested that Zonfrillo’s death could have nothing to do with vaccine jabs.

Jock Zonfrillo has worked with the renowned Hyde Park Hotel for Michelin-starred British chef Marco Pierre White. Zonfrillo has opened up in the past about how he was broke, homeless, and hooked on drugs when he was a teenager. He also spoke at length about his problems with drug abuse in his 2021 book. He opened several restaurants after moving to Australia in 2000, including award-winning Restaurant Orana in Adelaide in 2013.
