Digital streaming giant Netflix recently released a new reality show called ‘Indian Matchmaking’, which has drawn attention from users on social media for all the wrong reasons. People on the internet were quick to point out the stereotypes associated with arranged marriages in India, and as usual, a ‘memefest’ followed. Ironically, many of them found it relatable and called it ‘real’.

‘Indian Matchmaking’ features Sima Taparia, a marriage counselor, who guides clients in the US and India through the processes of arranged marriage. The show provides a inside peek at the age-old custom that still prevails in India.
