Mark Ruffalo takes a jibe at Star Wars while defending MCU outputs

 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) veteran Mark Ruffalo has taken a jibe at the Star Wars franchise while replying to accusations of too much MCU output by Damon Lindelof, the showrunner of Lost and Watchmen. Ruffalo said that he is not too worried at the moment about MCU’s content output reaching a saturation point while speaking to UK newspaper, Metro. The 54-year-old actor will be recently seen in the MCU series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. 

Lindelof had made these comments while speaking on Variety’s Into It podcast. He also said that the release of so many Marvel movies or TV shows one after the other works to the studio’s detriment, “I have this sort of interior feeling of like, ‘Wow, I wish they made less because it would make each one that came out a little bit more special”.

However, Ruffalo is of the opinion that each Marvel product is unique in its own right, saying, “But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness. Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material.”

While pointing out how Marvel is different, Ruffalo took a dig at the Star Wars franchise, saying that each instalment the franchise brings out is more or less the same, “It might have a little bit of humor. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world”. Notably, both the MCU and Star Wars are franchises owned by Disney.

The accusations Ruffalo has made against Star Wars are quite similar to those legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese had made against MCU movies when he called them “themepark rides”. The Taxi Driver director, in an article he wrote for New York Times, explained his comments by saying that there is a finite range of emotions these movies mostly deal in, and the audience can sort of predict how each movie will end.
