Popular singer KK died in Kolkata on Tuesday night at the age of 53.
KK, whose real name was Krishnakumar Kunnath, performed at Nazrul Mancha in south Kolkata in the evening. He started “feeling heavy” after reaching his hotel, and soon collapsed, PTI reported quoting officials. He was taken to a local hospital he was pronounced dead around 10 pm. Doctors have said they suspected “cardiac arrest” to be the cause of the death.
The singer was influenced by legendary musicians like Kishore Kumar, RD Burman, and Michael Jackson. He got his big Bollywood break with ‘Tadap Tadap’, a song from the superhit Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. He went on to sing songs like ‘Pal’ and ‘Yaaron’, which became massive hits among youngsters.

He has recorded Bollywood numbers such as ‘Ankhon Mein Teri’ (Om Shanti Om), ‘Zara Sa’ (Jannat), ‘Khuda Jaane’ (Bachna Ae Hasino) and ‘Tadap Tadap’ (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam).
The versatile also recorded songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali, among other languages.
