Hwang Dong-huyk, the creator of the hit Netflix series, ‘Squid Game‘, confirmed that there will be a second season of the drama that took the world by storm. He said that the reaction that he and his creation got left him with “no choice” but to make another.

He confirmed this development at a red carpet event for “Squid Game” at NeueHouse in Los Angeles.

“There’s been so much demand, love and attention for a season two so I feel I have no choice but to make a season two,” CNN quoted the creator as saying.

“I have a rough idea about it but I think it’s too early to say when or how specifically. But I can promise you this — Gi-hun will come back and he will do something for the world,” Dong-huyk added.

A spokesperson for Netflix said that the streaming company was in a discussion about a second season. However, they had not confirmed it.

“Squid Game”, the hit K-Drama, is a fictional series from South Korea in which contestants play deadly children’s games to win a huge cash prize. The contestants, in the serial, are knee-deep in loans and come from a poor financial background. This game allows them to win the cash prize and live a fruitful life.

On October 12, Netflix announced that ‘Squid Game‘ was its “biggest-ever series at launch.”

At the beginning of October, Hwang told CNN about his thoughts on a second series.

“Writing, producing and directing a series alone was really such a big task. When I think about doing the same for season two, I’m personally kind of worried,” he said.

“There’s nothing confirmed at the moment, but so many people are enthusiastic that I’m really contemplating it.”

The drama’s cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung.
