Taapsee to Richa Chadha, Bollywood welcomes Priya Ramani’s acquittal

celebrities, including actor Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, filmmaker Onir and musicians Sona Mohapatra and Chinmayi Sripada,  welcomed the iconic judgment by Delhi court acquitting journalist Priya
Ramani
in MJ Akbar’s criminal defamation case over allegations of sexual
harassment on Wednesday.

Taking to social media, Pannu wrote, “Amidst all the wrongs n unfair happening around this did bring a ray of hope that somewhere something is keeping our hope in righteousness alive. Long live truth and justice.”

‘Fukrey’ actor Richa Chadha, known for being politically eloquent on social media, also celebrated the iconic judgement. Here’s what she said:

Singer Sona Mohapatra, who often makes headlines with her fearless remarks on issues like nepotism and women empowerment, was also among the few from the industry to hail Priya Ramani’s victory in the court of law on Wednesday.

  “This case is one for #India ‘s protection. Not just her women but also all the good people of this country. Thank You PriyaRamani for standing strong,” wrote Sona on Twitter.

Musician Chinmayi Sripaada also applauded Priya Ramani’s courage for taking up the fight.

Filmmaker Onir also took to Twitter to hail the judgment.

“This is spectacular. A milestone judgement when it comes to sexual harassment. Important that the court points out that it’s not time bound . Amazing,” Onir wrote

On Wednesday, a Delhi court ruled in favour of journalist Priya Ramani in a defamation case filed by her former boss and former union minister MJ Akbar in response to sexual misconduct allegations.
