Where is Don Lemon? CNN host missing from The Morning Show day after apologizing for ‘sexist’ remark

CNN host Don Lemon, who received massive flak for his ‘sexist’ remarks, was missing from The Morning Show on Friday. A day earlier, he apologized for saying that Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley was past her “prime.”

The 56-year-old made the comments on Thursday’s episode of the show as he and his co-hosts discussed Nikki Haley’s proposal that politicians ages 75 and up should face mental competency tests.

“She says people, you know, politicians or something are not in their prime,” Lemon said on the program. “Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. A woman is considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”

Just as he made the comment, his co-anchor Poppy Harlow tried to get him to modify his take on the subject. “What are you talking about, wait — prime for what?” she asked, to which he replied: “If you Google ‘when is a woman in her prime,’ it’ll say 20s, 30s and 40s.”

 “And I’m just saying Nikki Haley should be careful about saying that politicians are not in their prime, and they need to be in their prime when they serve. Because she wouldn’t be in her prime according to Google or whatever it is,” he added.

As his remark sparked controversy, Lemon apologized Thursday addressing his remark on Twitter.

“The reference I made to a woman’s ‘prime’ this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it,” he said. “A woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.”

Following Thursday’s show, Nikki Haley reacted to Lemon’s remark along with a clip of the show.

“Liberals can’t stand the idea of having competency tests for older politicians to make sure they can do the job. BTW it’s always the liberals who are the most sexist,” she wrote.
