Sonam Kapoor, Bollywood actress of Raanjhnaa and Sawariya fame, welcomed in her firstborn, a baby boy on Saturday, August 20 along with her husband Anand Ahuja. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja were married on May 8, 2018 and the couple announced their pregnancy in March this year. 

Who is Sonam Kapoor? 

Sonam Kapoor is a Hindi film actress who has worked with ace directors such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sooraj Barjatiya.  Sonam is the daughter of Hindi film actor Anil Kapoor. Sonam’s journey in Hindi cinema started with her taking on the role of assistant director in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Black. 

Sonam Kapoor was born on June 9, 1985 in Bombay (modern-day Mumbai). She and her family moved to posh Mumbai locality Juhu when Sonam was only a month old. Sonam Kapoor did her schooling at the Arya Vidya Mandir School. Her Wikipedia page states that Sonam was as ace sportsperson excelling in rugby and basketball. The 37-year-old actress has also received training in Kathak, classical music and Latin dance. 

Kapoor says she is an ardently religious person and for her religion is a way to be thankful for all that she has. In interviews conducted over the years, Sonam Kapoor said she battled issues with her weight for a long time and had been diagnosed with insulin resistance and polycystic ovarian disease. 

Sonam Kapoor started her higher education at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore. She later pursued correspondence courses in political science and economics from the University of Mumbai. 

Sonam Kapoor made her acting debut in 2007 with Saawariya along with Ranbir Kapoor. The film failed to make a mark on the box office as it released on the same day as Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Om Shanti Om, which also starred debuting actress Deepika Padukone. 

Sonam Kapoor met Bollywood success with her romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys which released in 2010. I Hate Luv Storys had Sonam share the screen with Imran Khan, who had then made a name for himself with the hit college drama Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
