Yay or nay: Shahid Kapoor posts clean-shaven look, leaves fans divided

With more than 32 million followers on Instagram, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is often the talk of town. Recently, social media was taken by storm after the ‘Jersey’ star shared a clean-shaven look on his Instagram handle. Captioning it “I was going for just a trim…N then this happened..” (sic), the post has amassed over 5,43,000 likes, and more than 3,000 comments.
Kapoor, who is sporting a bright smile in the picture, shared that while initially he wanted to go for a regular beard trim, he ended up shaving it all off. Reacting to this, Kapoor’s brother and actor Ishaan Khatter wrote “Vampire Diaries” in the comments, suggesting that the new look made him look like one of the characters on the television show.
Despite the profusion of likes, the post created a massive divide between fans. While some loved Kapoor’s new look, others were taken aback by the transformation. One user who seemed to have loved the look wrote, “Nobody does it better”. On the flipside, another user wrote “Bhai ye kya kar diya?” (Brother, what have you done).

Furthermore, one user who found Kapoor bearing an uncanny resemblance to Ravi Dubey, a television actor, wrote “Ravi Dubey lag rahe ho, sir” (You look like Ravi Dubey, sir).
On the work front, the actor has been gearing up for his next big release ‘Jersey’, after his controversial hit ‘Kabir Singh’. The sports drama Jersey is a remake of a 2019 Telugu film of the same name. Along with Shahid Kapoor, the film stars actor Mrunal Thakur in the lead role.

Initially set to release in August 2020, the film was pushed back to December 31, 2021. In a statement released by the producers, its theatrical release has been pushed back to 2022 due to the recent spike of Covid-19 cases in the country.
