India records 323,144 COVID-19 cases, 2,771 deaths in 24 hours

India in the last 24 hours recorded 323,144 cases of COVID-19. The nation’s COVID-19 tally has now touched 17,636,307. India’s death toll from COVID-19 climbed to 197,894 after 2,771 people died on Monday. 

A total of 251,827 people recovered from the COVID-19 disease in the last 24 hours, and now the tally of recovered infections in India stands at 14,556,209. 

There are currently 2,882,204 active cases of coronavirus in India. 

The Indian Council of Medical Research on Tuesday said that 1,658,700 samples for COVID-19 in India were tested on Monday. As of April 27, 280,979,877 samples have been tested in India for COVID-19. 

A total of 145,271,186 people in India have released at least a single shot of the COVID-19 vaccine till now. India kicked off the biggest vaccination drive against COVID-19 on January 16. From May 1, all aged above 18 are eligible to get the vaccine. 

Covaxin, developed at Hyderabad’s Bharat Biotech, and Covishield, manufactured at the Pune-based Serum Institute, are the two vaccines being administered in the country.
