India records 412,262 cases of COVID-19, 3,980 deaths; highest spike in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, India recorded 412,262 cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s tally of coronavirus cases to 21,077,410. The death toll in India from COVID-19 has now climbed to 2,301,68 after 3,980 people died from the infection on Wednesday. 

There are currently 3,566,398 active cases of coronavirus in India. The tally of recovered COVID-19 cases has now touched 17,280,844 after 329,113 people were discharged from hospitals, or recovered from the infection across the nation in the last 24 hours. 

As of May 6, a total of 162,513,339 people have at least received a single shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccination drive kicked off in India on January 16 and currently, Serum Institute’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin are being administered.
