India records 414,188 COVID-19 new cases, highest in a day; 3,915 deaths in 24 hours

India recorded 414,188 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the nation’s tally of coronavirus infections to 21,491,598. A total of 3,915 people died from the COVID-19 infection across the country on Thursday. The death toll from COVID-19 in India has now climbed to 234,083.
There are currently 3,645,164 active cases of COVID-19 in India. The tally of recovered COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 3,645,164 after 331,507 people recovered from the infection on Thursday.
The Indian Council of Medical Research on Friday said that 1,826,490 samples for COVID-19 were tested in India on Thursday. As of May 6, 298,601,699 samples have been tested in India for COVID-19, the ICMR said.
As of May 7, a total of 164,973,058 people have at least received a single shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccination drive kicked off in India on January 16 and currently, Serum Institute’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin are being administered.
