India reports 43,733 new COVID-19 cases; recovery rate increases to 97.18%

India on Tuesday recorded 43,733 new coronavirus cases and 930 deaths in 24 hours, according to the data released by Union Health Ministry on Wednesday. The death toll has now reached 404,211 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
On Monday, India reported lowest number of deaths in around 90 days and 34,703 new cases of coronavirus were reported, the lowest in 111 days.

There are currently 4,59,920 active cases in the country. According to the data, 47,240 people recovered from the disease, taking the total to 29,799,534.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 97.17%. A net decline of 17,714 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. Recoveries continue to outnumber daily new cases for the 54th consecutive day.

A total of 42,33,32,097 samples were tested for COVID19 up to July 6, of which, 19,07,216 samples were tested on Tuesday, according to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
As many as 36,13,23,548 people have been vaccinated against the deadly virus since the beginning of the vaccination drive in India in January this year.
The Centre has warned of strict restrictions again if people don’t follow COVID appropriate behaviour. This came after pictures of tourists flouting COVID-19 norms in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand went viral.
Meanwhile, a report on COVID-19 by SBI has stated that third wave of the deadly virus will hit India in August. The research report, prepared by the SBI, says that the wave will peak in September 2021.
