IndvsEng: Krunal Pandya creates record, hits fastest fifty in debut match

Krunal Pandya, who received his first ODI cap for India from his brother Hardik Pandya before the start of the 1st ODI vs England on Tuesday, scored his maiden half century in 26 balls. This is the fastest fifty ever scored by a debutant in an ODI match. 

The record for fastest fifty on ODI debut was earlier held by Jon Morris of New Zealand, who scored a 35-ball fifty on his debut against England in the 1990 Adelaide ODI.

This is the first ODI match between India and England of the three-match series. Earlier, Virat Kohli lost the toss and was put to bat first by Eoin Morgan. India got off to a slow and steady start, however, Rohit Sharma was taken out by Ben Stokes, scoring 28 runs off 42 balls. 

Meanwhile, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan on Tuesday missed a century by two runs. The 35-year-old opener added 98 runs to India’s scoreboard off 106 balls, including 11 boundaries and four sixes. He was dismissed by England’s Ben Stokes.
