Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Monday became the fourth cricketer to have participated in the recently concluded Road Safety World Series in Raipur and test positive for COVID-19.

The veteran’s tournament, which was won by the India Legends side, is turning out to be a super spreader event after Irfan’s brother Yusuf along with legends Sachin Tendulkar and S Badrinath, all announced on Twitter that they tested positive.

“I have tested positive for COVID-19 with no symptoms and have isolated myself and quarantined at home. I would request those who came in contact with me in recent past to please get themselves tested. Urging all to wear masks and maintain social distancing. Wishing you all good health,” Irfan tweeted.

The Road Safety Series is a private tournament meant for only retired cricketers, which is why it is not approved by the BCCI, PTI reported.

The organisers didn’t restrict crowd attendance for the matches despite rising COVID-19 cases, while the BCCI banned crowds for the latter part of the England series.

Spectators were not wearing mask and questions are being raised as to what kind of bio-bubble was created by the organisers of the Road Safety World Series.
