‘Lockdown-like’ curbs in Maharashtra. Check full list here

  • Restaurants and bars in Maharashtra will stay shut for in-dining
  • Parcels and home deliveries are allowed in the state from 7 am to 8 pm every day
  • Shops and malls not performing essential services will remain shut

The tough new measures announced by the Maharashtra government for the next 15 days to break the COVID-19 transmission chain and curb the rising cases came into force on Wednesday night. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday had said that a statewide curfew would be imposed in Maharashtra for 15 days from 8 pm on April 14 to 7 am on May 1 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases. To ‘Break The Chain’ of coronavirus, the state government has released an order that consists of stricter restrictions for everyone, excluding essential services.

Maharashtra on Tuesday registered 60,212 new COVID-19 cases. Mumbai alone accounted for 7,873 new COVID-19 cases.

Here is the list of new restrictions that will come into effect in Maharashtra from today:

1. No one will be allowed to move around in public places without any valid reason.

2. All public place like beaches, gardens, open spaces, will stay shut.

4. Offices of central, state and local government; cooperative, PSUs and private banks; insurance/mediclaim companies; pharmaceutical companies; RBI regulated entities; local disaster management authorities will remain open. 

5. Restaurants and bars will stay shut for dine-in, except for those inside the campus and who form an integral part of hotels. Restaurants and bars will open for hotel’s in-house guests. 

6. All personnel belonging to home delivery services and the staff of restaurants and bars to be vaccinated at the earliest.

7. Parcels and home deliveries are allowed in the state from 7 am to 8 pm every day. This is also mandatory for e-commerce.

8. Roadside eatable vendors can’t serve food at the location, however, home deliveries and takeaways are allowed.

9. Cinema halls, drama theatres, auditoriums, clubs, gyms, swimming pools, water parks, amusement parks, arcades, video game parlours and sports complexes to stay closed.

10. Shooting for films/serials/advertisements to remain closed.

11. Shops and malls not performing essential services will remain shut.

12. All places of worship, schools and colleges, private coaching classes, barbershops, spas, salons and beauty parlous will remain closed.

13. No religious or cultural gatherings are allowed.

14. Only 25 people are permitted to attend a wedding function, otherwise, a fine of up to Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the establishment. Meanwhile, funerals to be allowed a maximum of 20 people.

15. Construction will be allowed only on the sites where labourers are living.
