Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu discusses period poverty in the Philippines

Harnaaz
Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021, has garnered attention for promoting awareness
about period poverty, the need for period equality, and women’s menstrual
hygiene at an event in the Philippines.
The
beauty pageant titleholder travelled to Philippines to be part of the jury
panel for ‘The Miss Universe Philippines 2022’. The model
cum actress has wowed her admirers all over the world by sharing photos
and videos of herself attending the event in the Philippines.
Sandhu
spoke about period equality at the ‘Plan International Philippines’ on Tuesday
as well as shared her photos with youth leaders from the event who are fighting
to reduce period poverty and promote menstrual hygiene management. She also
shared her experience with them in bringing about awareness and
changes related to the same. In addition, she also visited a sanitary
napkin machine installation in the country.

Sandhu’s
photographs from the occasion were uploaded on her official page. The post
was captioned, “Today the menstrual equity coalition announced the
installation of a pad machine here in the Philippines. Harnaaz met with youth
leaders from @planphilippines to share her journey towards ending period poverty
where she also learned about their experience as change makers in their
society.”
Plan
International Philippines’ youth leaders hope to directly reach “20
million girls and young women in promoting Menstrual Hygiene Management in the
Philippines,” according to the Miss Universe organization.
Sandhu
also shared images of her attire for the occasion. “Such a
blessed day in the Philippines,” the diva captioned the shot.

She
was adorned in a dress from designer Ranna Gill’s collection. Sandhu wore a printed
bustier dress. A medallion print in many shades on a white backdrop, puffy
sleeves with pleated cuffs, side thigh-high slits, and a form-fitting contour
accentuating Miss Universe’s curves are all incorporated in the costume.
Sandhu
accentuated the look by pairing the patterned dress with gold gladiator heels,
statement rings, gold hoop earrings, side-parted open hair, winged eyeliner,
soft smokey eye shadow, radiant complexion, and flushed cheeks.
