Working from home is not as easy and fun as it may sound as there are many mental hurdles to overcome while working in isolation. There are tons of distractions while working at home, like cooking, washing utensils, clothes, cleaning…But at Opoyi, we understand you. Here are a few tips on how to work from home happily, productively and effectively.
Set up a separate office space
A must! Use a space in your home that’s designated especially for work. You should only use your bed to sleep and relax. A proper desk creates an environment that keeps your mind occupied with professional obligations even while working in isolation. Even if you have a small room, set up a desk and chair and separate the professional from the personal.
Select a good chair
Productivity automatically increases if you are comfortable. Invest in a cosy, ergonomically sound chair that will keep you properly aligned throughout the day.
Or avoid using chair altogether
You can opt for a standing desk or a carpet. It will give your back a break.
Get some fresh air
We know that you cannot go out to enjoy, but can surely either sit in the balcony or at least go out for a walk early in the morning. You can set an alarm to remind yourself to get up and stretch once every hour, or to just go outside.
Set a schedule and follow it
Staying in bed for a little longer is tempting, but can have an impact on your health. Your mental health and the quality of work by setting a schedule as if you were going to the office helps a lot in staying positive. Don’t forget to dress up every day.
Work out
You have all the flexibility you always wanted. Set a time for your workout routine – dedicate at least 30 minutes for yourself. When you feel happy from within, you begin to enjoy your work.
E-meet your friends and family
Plan a zoom call with friends and family every day. It helps in feeling better and less isolated.
Be creative
Invest your extra time in learning something new. Involve yourself in creative activities, like painting, cooking, baking, or anything that makes you happy. It’s a great stress buster. You can decorate your work area or maybe just make your surroundings better.
Stock up on healthy snacks and meals
We often tend to wander into the kitchen when we know there are delicious treats, so keep temptation at bay by buying fresh fruits and vegetables.
