Legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, who received his second COVID vaccine dose, marked the occasion with a surprise concert for people in the observing area, reports AFP. Ma was seen playing the cello during his 15-minute observation period after getting the jab at the Berkshire Community College in Massachusetts on Saturday.

Richard Hall of the Berkshire COVID-19 Vaccine Collaborative told The Eagle local newspaper, that Ma “wanted to give something back.” A clip on the recital was posted on the college’s social media pages.

65-year-old cellist shared clips of him playing pieces often using the hashtag #songsofcomfort, as well as promoting fair vaccine distribution worldwide during the pandemic.

The soloist has also performed online on several occasions in memory of the victims of the pandemic and in honour of medical personnel.
