“We need 40 lakh vaccine doses every week. We can then administer six lakh doses every day in a week. The doses we are getting are not enough,” he said, adding the Centre should ensure that those in the 20-40 age group are vaccinated on priority.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the Maharashtra government should procure the drug remdesivir from states that are not witnessing a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and take action against black marketing of the injection.

Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded the highest daily count of 59,907 coronavirus positive cases, taking the tally of infections to 31,73,261 while 322 fatalities pushed the toll to 56,652, PTI reported quoting the state health department.
