There is no denying that India is home to several mysterious places that conceal centuries worth of secrets and history. However, not many know that there are few bewildering spots in the country that are said to be gravitational anomalies.

Here are four such spots in India that seem to be taking on Newton’s law of gravity-

1. Naneghat (Maharastra): Located in the Western Ghats, Naneghat is a mountain where a waterfall flows in the upward direction. Though some may find it mysterious, there is a simple reason behind this reverse effect -the strong force of the winds push the water upwards. So, whenever you visit the place, don’t forget to carry your umbrellas.

2. Krishna’s Butter Ball(Tamil Nadu): Located in Mamallampuram, Krishna’s Butter Ball, also known as Vaan Irai Kal, has become a popular attraction. People visit this place to have a glimpse of the mysterious rock. The gigantic granite boulder, which rests at a 45 degree angle on a steep slippery area, can not be moved.

3. Magnetic Hill (Ladakh): Nestled on the Leh-Kargil-Baltik national highway at an altitude of 14,000 feet, the road has mysterious magnetic abilities where visitors experience a gravity-defying phenomenon. Though it a downhill road, objects passing on it appear to roll uphill.

4. Lepakshi Temple (Andhra Pradesh): Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple has 70 pillars. One of these floats mid-air without any support. Visitors usually pass objects underneath the pillar as it is believed to bring prosperity to one’s life.
