When it comes to Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, fasting is a ritual shared by almost everyone. The month-long festival involves not eating food or drinking water between sunrise and sunset for the entire month. As the country steps in the holy month, here are a few tips that can help you sail through your fasting smoothly.

1: Suhoor

Suhoor is the meal eaten before Fujr or dawn. The body draws from the energy and nutrition provided by Suhoor to function the rest of the day making it the most crucial meal. Hence it is advised to never skip this meal. Set the alarm for an hour before dawn and enjoy the meal as it was intended to be, in peace.

2: Unwind with a power nap

A 20-minute reset break for your body to gather back its energy is a great way of building your energy and staying productive throughout the day. According to research power naps also improve your cognitive functioning making you more alert and also reduces stress.

 However, it is to be noted that power naps are not to be too long as they make the body even more lethargic. 

3: Hydration

However rewarding, Ramzan is also extremely difficult as it does not allow you to drink water. Therefore, include as many fluids as possible during Suhoor. Avoid including tea or coffee as the caffeine in them leads to loss of water making you even more thirsty.

4: Mindful consumption during Iftar

The evening meal Muslims eat at sunset to end their fast is called Iftar. Being deprived of food throughout the day makes you more prone to overeat. Experts suggest mindful eating during Iftar. Load up on food that is high in protein and that takes longer to digest so that the body can function for longer

5: Employing distractions

It is ill-advised to do any strenuous activity however you can indulge in online courses, pick up household chores. The idea is to do intellectually stimulating activities that keep your hunger at bay.
