Kashmir to Kanyakumari: Adil Teli rides 3,600 kms in 8 days to script history
- Adil Teli broke the previous record of 8 days, seven hours and 38 minutes held by Om Mahajan
- The young cyclist started his journey from Srinagar on March 22
- Adil trained at Gurunanak Dev University at Amritsar
Kashmiri cyclist Adil Teli, on Tuesday, created history by cycling 3,600 kilometers – from Kashmir to Kanyakumari within 8 days, one hour and 37 minutes. Reportedly, Adil broke the World Record set by Om Mahajan, who completed the same feat in 8 days, 7 hours and 38 minutes last year.
According to media reports, an official said he had to tackle challenging terrains, rough climatic conditions among others as he rode towards creating a new record.
“Adil, a young cyclist from Narbal area of Budgam district started his journey on March 22 after being flagged off by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole from Lal Chowk area of Srinagar,” news agency UNI quoted an official as saying.
Adil started his journey from Srinagar and crossed Sanant Nagar NH44, Qazigund, New Tunnel Banihal, Nashri Tunnel, Lakhanpur, Pathankot, Jalandar, Ludhiana, Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Gutti, Banglore, Madurai before finally reaching Kanyakumari.
Prior to this, Adil has also created the record of covering 440 kms distance from Srinagar to Leh in 26 hours and 30 minutes.
Adil trained at Gurunanak Dev University at Amritsar under coach Rajesh, who is the head of department at the cycling department.
