A total of 17 Democrat members of Congress were arrested after they refused to follow three warnings issued to them about blocking a street near the Supreme Court in Washington D.C., according to Capitol Police.

Including the lawmakers, a total of 35 people were arrested by the police for “Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding.” According to Axios, the lawmakers are expected to be released by the police and fined for the protest. The lawmakers, along with pro-abortion protesters, had descended on First Street NE outside the Capitol building and blocked the road.

Here are the lawmakers: Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), Rep. Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Rep. Andy Levin (D-Mich.), Rep. Alma Adams (D-N.C.), Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.)

Representative Carolyn Maloney said that the US could not be called a democracy if “women do not have control over their own bodies and decisions about their own health, including reproductive care.”

Another Democrat, Representative Veronica Escobar took to Twitter where she shared a picture of her arrest writing, “Our rights are on the line.”

Democrat representatives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar have been at the forefront of the pro-abortion protests ever since the Supreme Court announced the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

Representative Levin claimed that the big changes in the country had happened not because of decisions made by senators and representatives having conversations at Capitol Hill but by social movements. “It happens because people march, people protest, people organize, people get arrested.”
