Mike Gill, a former Trump administration official, was critically wounded in a Washington D.C. carjacking rampage that occurred on Monday evening. The incident was part of a series of violent events across D.C. and suburban Maryland, which tragically resulted in another motorist’s death. Gill was the first victim in this spree of violence. The suspect responsible for these incidents was later fatally shot by police.

Gill, while waiting outside his wife’s workplace to pick her up, was approached by the suspect. The attacker shot Gill while he was inside his car around 5:45 PM. Despite managing to exit his vehicle, Gill collapsed shortly thereafter due to his injuries.

Witnesses and Gill’s wife, who quickly arrived at the scene, assisted him until emergency services arrived. Gill sustained life-threatening injuries and was reported to be in very critical condition following the attack.

Who is Mike Gill?

Mike Gill is recognized for his significant contributions to public service and the political sector. From 2016 to 2019, he served as the chief of staff to J. Christopher Giancarlo, then the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

He also held the position of chief operating officer within the same agency. Following his tenure in the Trump administration, Gill joined the private sector in 2020 but maintained his political involvement. He recently completed a seven-year term as a Republican representative on the D.C. Board of Elections.
