Delhi’s Indian Army Base hospital has been facing a shortage of supply of oxygen following a significant drop in the supply by the Delhi Government, said sources to PTI.

The authorities said that there was no immediate shortage of oxygen in the hospital, but the cut in the amount of daily supply might result in difficulties in the treatment of coronavirus-stricken patients at the facility, reported PTI.

The Base Hospital has a capacity of 450 beds and was recently designated as a COVID-19 facility.

The sources told PTI that the crisis of shortage of medical oxygen at the hospital has been taken up by the concerned authorities in Defence Ministry and necessary steps will be taken to increase the supplies. One of the sources told that the drop in oxygen supply was around 50% of what the hospital earlier received on a daily basis.

“There is no need to panic as the hospital was trying to bridge the gap in oxygen supply,” said a source to PTI.

Hospitals in the national capital have been facing an acute shortage of medical oxygen for some time, and the sudden surge in the COVID-19 cases in the second wave of coronavirus has worsened the situation in the city.
