Around 80 flights from Delhi delayed due to dense fog; visibility reduced to zero meters

Dense fog reduced visibility to zero meters in Delhi, affecting traffic movement, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday. This is the third time this season, after December 8 and January 1, that visibility has dropped to zero meters in the city.

The fog resulted in at least four flights to and fro Delhi being delayed and at least one flight stands cancelled, ANI reported.

Around 80 flights originating from and over 50 flights bound to Delhi airport delayed, mainly due to dense fog and other operational reasons today, ANI reported, quoting Delhi airport officials.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, on Saturday. The Lodhi Road weather station recorded a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, the Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, had recorded a low of 6.4 degrees Celsius. It was 2 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 3.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
