Aryan Khan appears for questioning before NCB probe team from Delhi
- Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB on October 3
- Khan, 23, is the main accused in the cruise-on-drugs case
- He was granted bail by the Bombay High Court on October 29
Aryan Khan, son of
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, was questioned by the Delhi unit of the
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday at the camp of the Rapid Action Force
in Navi Mumbai, sources say. The Delhi unit of the NCB took over the cruise-on-drugs
case in which Aryan Khan was named an accused after the anti-narcotics agency’s
Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede was accused of extortion by a ‘witness’
in the case.
The NCB’s special investigation
team that has come in from Delhi has taken over six cases that were under
Sameer Wankhede. Some of the cases that the Delhi team has taken up are
sensitive and bear relations to the entertainment industry.
Sameer Wankhede
has been in the news since Aryan Khan’s arrest after Nationalist Congress Party
(NCP) leader Nawab Malik made complaints against the senior official. At the
same time, NCB ‘witness’ Prabhakar Sail brought Wankhede’s handling of the
Aryan Khan case into question.
Shah Rukh Khan’s
son Aryan Khan spent 22 days in prison after he was arrested on October 3 of a
cruise off the Mumbai coast. The anti-drugs agency did not find any drugs on
the superstar’s son but claimed that his WhatsApp chats show that he was
involved in “illicit drug deals” and links with international drug cartels.
On October 29, the
Bombay High Court granted bail to Aryan Khan in the case. The high court’s bail
order said that he would have to appear before the anti-drugs agency every
Friday. The 23-year-old who graduated from the University of Southern California
(USC) has also been required to surrender his passport.
Shah Rukh Khan’s
long-term friend and Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla has been accepted as surety
for Aryan Khan by the Bombay High Court. Chawla signed a Rs 1 lakh bond for
Aryan Khan after the bail conditions were explained.
