Aryan Khan, son of
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, was granted bail in the drugs-on-cruise
case by the Bombay High Court on Thursday. The court is expected to issue a
comprehensive order on Friday and the star-kid is likely to be released from
Arthur Road Jail either Friday or Saturday, according to Aryan Khan’s legal
team.

23-year-old Aryan
Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 3 after
sleuths of the anti-drug agency raided a luxury cruise ship off the Mumbai
coast on October 2. Since then, Shah Rukh Khan’s eldest son was first put in NCB
custody and later moved to judicial custody.

October 3: Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Aryan Khan, Arbaaz
Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha in the cruise-on-drugs case. Khan, Merchant and
Dhamecha were produced before a magistrate’s court for remand. The Magistrate
remanded the trio for NCB custody till October 4.
October 4: The very next day, Aryan Khan and others were once
again produced before the Magistrate who remanded then in NCB custody till
October 7. On the same day, five others arrested in the case were also sent on
remand.
October 5: The anti-drugs agency produced four more accused in
the drugs case and the new accused were sent on NCB custody till October 11
October 7: Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were
produced before the Magistrate seeing extension of NCB custody. However, NCB’s
custody request was denied and the trio was remanded to judicial custody along
with five other accused.
The same day,
Aryan Khan moved a bail application. The Magistrate granted NCB time to respond
on the maintainability of the bail plea. The case was adjourned for the next
day.
October 8: The Magistrate’s court heard the bail pleas of Khan, Merchant
and Dhamecha. After a marathon hearing of five hours, the bail pleas were
rejected on grounds of non-maintainability. On the same day, Aryan Khan, Arbaaz
Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha filed bail pleas in the special NDPS court.
October 11: Aryan Khan’s bail application was mentioned before the
NDPS court and the NCB sought time to file a reply. The next hearing was posted
for October 13.
October 13: Special NDPS court judge VV Patil commenced hearing of
the bail pleas
October 20: The special NDPS court rejected the bail pleas of
Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. The trio approached the Bombay
High Court for bail.
October 21: Aryan Khan’s bail plea was mentioned before Justice NW
Sambre seeking urgent hearing and the matter was posted for October 26.
October 26: The Bombay High Court commenced hearing Aryan Khan’s
bail plea. Arbaaz Merchant also files a bail plea. Former attorney general of
India Mukul Rohtagi arrived in Mumbai to argue Aryan Khan’s bail.
October 28: Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were granted
bail. The court is expected to come out with a detailed order on Friday and the
trio is expected to be released from the Arthur Road Jail on either Friday or
Saturday.
