The first Test will start at 5:30 am IST (Indian Standard Time), the second test will begin from 9.30 am (day-night Test match), the third and fourth Test match will start from 5.30 AM, and the fifth Test match time is yet to be announced.

This will be the first Test series in Australia in almost a year. The last team to tour Australia was India, which took place in the 2020–21 season. England versus Australia is the world’s oldest cricket rivalry.

The iconic Test series is played every once every two years. This time, it will be played after a three-year gap because of the COVID-19 outbreak all over the world and imposition of strict travel curbs. Pandemic curbs have shown an impact on this Test series as well as the final Test of the Ashes has been moved from Perth (WACA) due to state COVID-19 rules. A new venue will soon be announced by Cricket Australia.

Pat Cummins, fast bowler, who has played 34 test matches and taken 164 wickets in it, will be debut as Test captain for Australia in Ashes 2021. Tim Paine, former Test captain of Australia, resigned from captaincy over a ‘sexting scandal’ in November,2021; Tim Paine is out of the Ashes and is taking an indefinite break from cricket.

Ben Stokes, the star all-rounder of the England cricket team, will be returning to the Test match squad after a break of almost nine months. Ben Stokes’ return to the team is expected to uplift the morale of the English squad. Stokes was adjudged the Player of the Series in the last Ashes. The 2019 Ashes was a 2–2 draw.
