Cricketer Chris Morris recalls the day IPL was suspended

South African cricket player and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Chris
Morris was relieved to be back home safely after COVID-19 cases started rising
in the IPL bio-bubble in India. “The moment we heard that, when players are testing
positive, inside the bubble, then everyone starts asking questions. The alarm
bells started going off for all of us,” he said to website iol.co.za. He is
currently in a 10 day quarantine at home in South Africa.

IPL
was suspended after SRH’s Wridhiman Saha and DC’s Amit Mishra tested
positive on Tuesday. Later, CSK’s bowling coach L Balaji and batting coach
Michael Hussey also contracted the virus. 

Morris
said that he was talking to the team doctor, when Kumar Sangakarra came
signaling a finger across his throat indicating the suspension of the series.

He
said that the series received criticism as it was being held when there were
more than 3,000 people dying outside the bubble every day.

Morris said that he was happy about their playing, which ensured that people stayed at home to watch them for three hours each night.
