Damar Hamlin, safety for the Buffalo Bills, reunited with his teammates ahead of their playoff game against the Miami Dolphins
Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills safety, reunited with his teammates ahead of their playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. Matthew Milano, the Bills linebacker, shared a picture of the 24-year-old being greeted at the team camp 12 days after he suffered a cardiac arrest during Bill’s week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hamlin had to be administered AER and CPR on the field after he collapsed following a tackle from Bengal’s Tee Higgins. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remained critical for two days, before finally regaining consciousness.

It was reported that after Hamlin regained consciousness at the medical facility, he asked the doctors about the score of the Bills vs Bengals game.
After his release, the Bills shared a heartwarming statement in which they welcomed Hamlin to normal life.
“We are thrilled and proud to share that Damar Hamlin has been released from the hospital and returned to Buffalo. He is doing well and this is the next stage of his recovery,” the statement said.
The NFL game, however, was canceled after players of both teams refused to play without an update on Hamlin’s health. They defied the NFL authorities who had instructed them to get back on the field within five minutes of Hamlin being rushed to the hospital.
The NFL authorities later decided to scrap the game altogether as a result would not have affected the NFL playoff pictures. But the game not being played affected the seeding of the teams and as a result, the NFL came up with an alternate proposition which they put to the vote before all the franchise owners.
Eventually, the proposition was accepted, and NFL decided that if either of the teams affected by the cancellation faced off in the playoff, the match would be played in a neutral venue, waiving off any undue advantage that may arise from the cancellation.
