Dhuri (Punjab) assembly election 2022: Date, result, candidates’ list and latest news

Bhagwant Mann from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won Dhuri assembly constituency defeating Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Dalvir Singh Goldy by a margin of 58,206 votes.

Dhuri assembly constituency has Dalvir Singh Goldy of the Indian National Congress (INC)  taking on Prakash Chandra Garg of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Randeep Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) this year in the Punjab assembly elections.

Dalvir Singh Goldy of the Indian National Congress had won the Dhuri seat in 2017. Goldy had beaten his closest rival Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon by over 2,811 votes. Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon had contested that election on an AAP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Arvind Khanna of the INC.

Dhuri falls under the Sangrur district and the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of nine assembly seats.

Sukhbir Singh Badal of the SAD represented Sangrur as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Badal defeated Sher Singh Ghubaya from the INC with a margin of  1,98,850 votes. 

The Dhuri assembly constituency will vote in a single phase of the Punjab elections on February 20, 2022, along with 116 other constituencies.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including Uttarakhand.
