Remember Dalgona coffee? The trend of making whipped coffee dominated social media in March 2020. Then we had the ‘Safe Hands’ call by WHO that asked everyone to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds. Quarantine Pillow challenge and Binod just followed. The last year-and-a-half has seen a lot of trends float on social media and the latest one is ‘#CrushTwitter’.

While this trend might amuse you, here are a few others that kept netizens busy in the tough lockdowns:

Saree challenge

The Saree challenge required users to post a picture of them in sarees. After posting the picture, they were required to tag their friends and challenge them to do the same. For men, dhotis substituted sarees.

#HalfFaceTwitter

The #halffacetwitter challenge required netizens to share half-faced photos of themselves.

#IAmSoIndian

Twitter users flooded the microblogging site with the desi things that they do almost daily but are often embarrassed to admit it publicly.

Quarantine pillow challenge

This challenge required participants to make outfits from their favourite pillows.

Binod

A person named Binod Thakur watched YouTube videos and commented his name ‘Binod’ under them. Soon netizens and even brands picked this trend and Binod was everywhere. People randomly commented ‘Binod’ on posts. Brands like Swiggy, Netflix, Paytm and Tinder also created memes on this trend.
