Cooped up in our houses during the COVID pandemic, a lot of us have made Dalgona coffee, banana bread, and Oreo Cake. All these food trends cropped up as the world was battling the dreaded coronavirus, and became an instant hit. 

In the current lockdown situation, people have once again started taking up new trends and recipes to keep themselves. One such dish that seems to have caught the attention of social media is Blue Spaghetti.

A Twitter user @hoebsidian posted a picture of his pasta creation on May 17 (Monday). The post went viral and has garnered 101 RTs and 1k Likes so far. 

The photo also set off a debate on whether the pasta is blue or green. In the end, most users, including azathot (The person who posted) agreed that the pasta was teal.

Ingredients: 

1 small purple cabbage

1 tsp of bicarbonate of Soda

1 serving of spaghetti

Water to boil

Directions :

1. The scheming secret to the attractive blue color is in combining just the right amount of bicarbonate of soda to purple cabbage. Purple cabbage extract acts as an indicator and turns this lovely shade of blue with a pinch of baking soda to work as a natural dye. 

2. Chop the cabbage leaves and boil them for 30 minutes.

3. Drain the water and boil it for a further 10 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to the packet instructions and drain once cooked add a teaspoon of bicarbonate that will turn the cabbage water from purple to blue.

5. Place the already boiled pasta into the mixture and let it sit for thirty minutes to absorb the color.

Sauce Recipe

Ingredients :

2 onions, 4 tomatoes, 5 cloves of garlic, 1 small carrot, 1/2 tsp of cayenne, 1/2 tsp paprika powder, 1/2 tsp basil powder, 1/2 of mint powder, Salt, 1 tsp of sugar, 25 grams of tomato paste, 1 1/2 cups of water, 6 pieces of spicy sausages.

Directions : 

1. Start by blanching your tomatoes then blend them.

2. Chop onions and blend the carrot.

3. Heat oil and fry the onions add the tomatoes, carrot, and paste.

4. Cook slightly and then add the spices and salt plus sugar and stir in and finally add the water. bring to a boil and simmer.

5. In another pot boil spicy sausages. Once cooked drain and fry them till brown.

6. Once the sauce is ready put them in the sauce and you are ready to serve.
