Goa lockdown: What is open, what is not

  • Goa CM Pramod Sawant announced a lockdown on Wednesday

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday that
the state would see a lockdown being imposed from April 29 till May 3. The
measure, taken to combat a rising spread in COVID-19 cases, would allow certain
services to remain open, while closing down others.

Starting on Thursday evening, the lockdown will continue till
Monday morning.

What will remain open:

Essential services

Industrial activities

Borders to remain partially open for the transportation of essential
services

What will stay shut:

Weekly markets

Casinos

Public transport

On Tuesday, Goa reported 2,110 fresh COVID-19 cases and 31 deaths,
which took the total tally in the state to 81,908 and the death toll to 1,086,
as per PTI.

Sawant urged people to take necessary precautions, and
medicines in case of COVID-19 symptoms.

By Wednesday evening, the state government would be issuing
a detailed notification regarding lockdown guidelines, he added.

He said that casual labourers need not worry, as
economic activities would resume as normal after the lockdown comes to an end
on Monday.
