India fast bowler
Umesh Yadav has been taken for scans after he suffered a calf muscle injury
during the third day of the second Test against Australia on Monday, PTI
reported.

The 33-year-old bowler
was bowling his 4th over when he experienced severe pain in his left
leg and immediately called for medical attention. He then limped back to the
dressing room.

“Umesh Yadav
complained of pain in his calf while bowling his 4th over and was assessed by
the BCCI medical team. He is being taken for scans now,” BCCI media team
released a statement, PTI reported.

Team India is already
missing the services of seasoned pacers Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma and Yadav’s
injury will only add to the team’s woes in the four-match Test series.

While updates are
being awaited on the fast bowler’s injury, India’s decision to play five
bowlers might help their cause.

India bowled out
Australia for 195 in their first innings and put up 326 for a substantial lead
of 131 runs. India lost the opening match and is now trailing the series 0-1.
