India overtakes USA in number of vaccine doses administered: Centre

With the COVID-19 cases witnessing a dip across India, the Centre on Monday said that India has “overtaken the USA in the number of vaccine doses administered.”
“Till now, India has administered 323,663,297 doses of COVID19 vaccines,” Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan was quoted as saying by ANI.
Talking about the milestone and witnessing that India’s COVID vaccination drive “keeps gaining” momentum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “vaccines for all, free for all” remains the government’s commitment.
The prime minister said, “India’s vaccination drive keeps gaining momentum! Congrats to all those who are driving this effort. Our commitment remains vaccines for all, free for all.”
India in the last 24 hours recorded 46,148 new cases of COVID-19 and 979 deaths. India’s COVID-19 tally, as of June 28, stands at 30,279,331 and the death toll from the pandemic has jumped to 396,730.
According to the goverment data, there are currently 572,994 active cases of COVID-19. A total of 58,578 people recovered from the coronavirus infection on Sunday, taking the tally of recovered COVID cases to 29,309,607.
