Given that a shortened game permitted both Rohit Sharma and Aaron Finch to frontload their lineups and play a bowler short, India and Australia are unlikely to spend too much time dissecting their 16-over shootout at Nagpur.

They’ll travel over to Hyderabad right away in the hopes of reaching a more equitable decision at the conclusion of this brief struggle, attempting to exploit weaknesses in the opposition while trying to plug some of their own in preparation for upcoming tests that will be more difficult.

The bowling certainly is where both have weaknesses. India is struggling to establish balance and form in that area, whereas Australia may have the luxury of relying upon Mitchell Starc when they return home.

Rohit and Rahul Dravid are in an odd position given that much of the focus of their pre-World Cup preparation has been on educating the larger cricketing community about their new batting philosophy.

Jasprit Bumrah‘s comeback after a few months away was a blessing, but if India is to compete for the trophies they will contend for tomorrow and a month from now, the other players, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, and even Harshal Patel, must step up.

Particularly Harshal hasn’t had the best comeback from his own injury, giving up 49 in Mohali and then 32 from only two overs in Nagpur. For India’s sake, Axar Patel has provided some relief amidst all the puzzlement.

There have been 25 T20Is between the Men in Blue and the Kangaroos, with 14 victories going to India and 10 to Australia. One encounter between the two teams had no winner.

The only T20I game played at the venue was a 2019 match between India and the West Indies. West Indies scored an impressive total of 207 in that game. India eventually succeeded in pursuing the target. The stadium’s surface is thought to be flat, and it tends to slow down as the game goes on.
