Harshal Patel has returned to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The all-rounder was picked up by the franchise for Rs 10.75 crore.

Who is Harshal Patel?

Born in Sanand, Gujarat, Patel is a bowling all-rounder. His performances in the
under-19 state level were appreciated initially all but overlooked by the selectors
for the first-class side.

In his formative years, Patel’s family was was preparing to move to the United States for better prospects, but was ultimately convinced by his coach Tarak Trivedi to stay back and let Patel pursue cricket.

Patel then moved to Haryana, where he trained under the eyes of former England cricketer
Ian Pont. The Englishman sharpened his skills, and Patel made his first-class debut against Delhi, finishing the season with 28 wickets from seven games.

He was
selected to play for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the 2010 Indian Premier
League followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012 and switched to the Delhi Daredevils in 2018. He was again picked up by RCB in 2021 for Rs 20 Lakh.
