Infant mauled to death by street dog attack in Noida

A stray dog killed a one-year-old child of a laborer on Monday night in a high-rise building in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The infant was admitted to the ICU and had to undergo surgery at Noida’s Yatharth Hospital as his intestines were pulled out an torn by the dog in the attack. 

The child died on Tuesday morning in the hospital after spending the entire night in a severe condition.

The incident took place at Sector 100 of Noida’s Lotus Boulevard housing estate on Monday at around 4:30 pm. The residents of the community gathered in protest and urged the Noida Authority to intervene in the situation.

Dharam Vir Yadav, a representative of the society’s residents group, said, “The child was mauled by a stray dog on Monday evening. He was admitted to a private hospital where doctors operated on him. Unfortunately, we lost the child late last night”.

The man also claimed that the police have been notified. According to a report of India Today, a resident said, “Notably, this is not the first incident of a stray dog attacking someone in society as it happens every 3-4 months. We have complained about this to the Noida authority and to the Apartment Owners Association too, but they did not take any action”. 

Rajneesh Verma, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Noida 1) informed that the parents of the child were engaged in construction work inside the society and had kept the child near them. However, the child was severely injured and was bitten by the dog.

The society’s Apartment Owners Association Secretary also issued a statement following the event. The statement read “AOA President has spoken to the Noida Authority and the entire govt machinery is aligned to sort this menace.”

The victim’s parents have received the dead body of their child and they have left for  Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, where the last rites of the child will be performed.
