Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the final of the Indian Premier League 2020 to lift its fifth IPL trophy. MI had previously won the 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 edition.

Skipper Rohit Sharma’s 68 off 51 balls made it easy for MI to chase a target of 157 in 18.4 overs with five wickets in hand. MI’s dominant victory was unlike the 2019 final which was a tight contest against Chennai Super Kings.

MI pacer and Purple Cap runner-up Jasprit Bumrah said, “We know it’s a difficult time, everyone is stuck at home. We’re lucky that we could come to work and entertain people watching at home.” Although he went wicket-less in the final, he finished with 27 wickets in the season.

Some clinical bowling in the first innings too helped MI restrict the in-form DC batsmen. Trent Boult took opener Marcus Stoinis with the first ball and later took the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Simron Hetmeyer.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer, who made an unbeaten 65, and Rishabh Pant rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 96 runs in the middle overs. However, Australian paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile took Pant’s wicket for 56, his first fifty of a disappointing season.
