IPL 2022: Full list of retained players by 8 franchises

  • The final list of retained players were presented on NOvember 30
  • Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni were retained by RCB and CSK, respectively
  • The IPL mega auction is expected to be held in January next year

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 journey started on November 30, 2021, with the eight franchises releasing a list of their retained players. The management will be building their teams around the retained players for the upcoming season.

As for the franchises, they can retain a total of 3 Indian players, 2 overseas players and two uncapped players.

With the
maximum salary purse set at Rs 90 crore, franchises had to decide whether
they want to spend nearly half their kitty on existing players or have the
upper hand with a larger purse during the mega auction, slated to be held in
January.

Here’s the
full list of retention picks:

Chennai Super Kings: Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 16 crore), MS Dhoni (Rs 12 crore), Moeen Ali (Rs 8 crore), Ruturaj
Gaikwad (Rs 6 crore).

Kolkata Knight Riders: Andre Russell, Varun
Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, Sunil Narine.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (Rs 14 crore), Abdul Samad (Rs 4 crore) and Umran Malik (Rs 4 crore).

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (Rs 15 crore), Glenn Maxwell (Rs 11 crore), Mohammed Siraj (Rs 7 crore).

Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Anrich
Nortje.

Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal (Rs 14 crore), Arshdeep Singh (Rs 4 crore).

The eight existing teams could choose up to a maximum of four players – not more than three Indians and not more than four foreigners – from their existing pool.

Total purse remaining for the teams going in the auction.

PBKS: Rs 72 crore

SRH: Rs 68 crore

RR: Rs 62 crore

RCB: Rs 57 crore

CSK: Rs 48 crore

KKR: Rs 48 crore

MI: Rs 48 crore

DC: Rs 47.5 crore

Key overseas players released

David Warner (SRH), Rashid Khan (SRH), Kagiso Rabada (DC), Jofra Archer (RR), Ben Stokes (RR).

Key Indian players released

KL Rahul (PBKS), Shikhar Dhawan (DC), Shreyas Iyer (DC), Ishan Kishan (MI), Hardik Pandya (MI), Shubhman Gill (KKR), Ravichandran Ashwin (DC), Yuzvendra Chahal (RCB), Harshal Patel (RCB), Deepak Chahar (CSK).
