Kamal Haasan, actor-filmmaker
and one of the tallest names of Indian cinema, tested positive for COVID-19 and
was hospitalised. The 67-year-old actor wrote on Twitter Monday that he
developed symptoms after returning from the United States and has isolated
himself at a hospital. “Let’s all understand that the pandemic is not over yet
and behave accordingly. Stay safe,” his post read.

Kamal Haasan was
in the United States recently to launch his fashion label called ‘KH House of
Khaddar’. According to Haasan, the intent of his brand label is to take the use
of ‘khaddar’, that is used to make ‘khadi’ clothes, to the west.

Prior to the
launch, Haasan had shared a video on Twitter with the caption: “Our weavers
chance to loom large. Dear West, follow the thread it will reach you to our
history. Bravo khaddar says KHHK, (sic)”.

For Haasan, House
of Khaddar is aimed at creating a clothing line that flaunts khadi as a
textile. The House of Khaddar aims to showcase the fabric in a chic, cool and
modern avatar that will appeal to the youth.

Upon his return
from the US, Kamal Haasan landed on the sets of Bigg Boss Tamil where he hosted
weekend episodes. Media reports say Haasan displayed no signs of illness when
he interacted with contestants in the Bigg Boss house.

Further, Haasan
was also shooting for his upcoming film “Vikram” prior to announcing that he
was down with COVID. “Vikram” is written and directed by Lokesh Kanaraj. Haasan
is not only the lead but also the film’s producer. The film also stars Vijay
Sethupati and Fahadh Faasil.

Haasan, who
continues to headline Tamil films, took the political plunge three years back
when he founded Makkal Needhi Maiam — a Tamil Nadu-based political party.
However, his political journey is yet to meet the kind of success that his film
career met. A former deputy in the party quit some time later accusing Haasan
of running the party in an “undemocratic manner”.
