Karnataka extends lockdown till June 7 amid COVID surge

The Chief Minister of Karnataka
BS Yediyurappa on Friday announced the extension of the state wide
lockdown till June 7.  The first announcement of lockdown was made on May
10 and was extended by two weeks in Friday. The same guidelines are to be
continued and followed till June 7.

Yediyurappa
said that the decision was made after consulting the ministers and the
officials of the state. He has allowed the state police force to take action
against the people who violate the lockdown norms. Public transport system will
continue to be prohibited to the people unless except for emergencies and for
the people going for vaccination.

Shops
which deal in grocery items like fruits, vegetables, milk products, meat and
fish and animal fodder will continue to work from 6 am to 10 am.

Karnataka
on Thursday reported a dip in fresh infections, logging 28,869 cases, but saw a
rise in deaths which touched 548.
