Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi praises Tamil literature, regrets not learning the language

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who on Sunday addresses the nation through his monthly radio progamme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, shared that he regrets not learning the world’s oldest language Tamil. “Tamil literature is beautiful,” said the PM in 74th episode of the radio show.

He said, “People have often asked me if there was something I missed out on during these long years as CM and PM,” adding, “I often told myself that one of my shortcomings was that I could not make much effort to learn Tamil.”

The PM said, “It is such a beautiful language, which is popular all over the world. Many people have told me a lot about the quality of Tamil literature and the depth of poems written in it.”

He also talked about water conservation and National Science Day in his address. He also pointed out several instances of hyperlocal attempts by people to save and use water resources efficiently.

Talking about the upcoming exam season, the Prime Minister invited students, teachers and parents to send in their thoughts, concerns ahead of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ in March. The PM has been holding ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ for over two years now, where he shares tips and encouraged them before the exams.
