Marhara (UP) assembly election 2022: Date, result, candidates’ list and latest news

Marhara assembly constituency has Virendra Verma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Yogesh Kumar of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Amit Gaurav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Arjun Yadav of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Tara Rajput of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Virendra Verma had won the Marhara seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Verma had beaten his closest rival Amit Gaurav by over 33,432 votes. Amit Gaurav had contested that election on a SP ticket.
In 2012, the seat was won by Amit Gaurav of the SP.
Marhara falls under the Etah district and the Etah Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats.
Rajveer Singh of the BJP represented Etah as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Singh defeated Ku. Devendra Singh Yadav from the SP with a margin of 1,22,670 votes.

The Marhara assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 58 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3.
Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
