Meerut Cantt assembly constituency has Amit Aggarwal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Amit Sharma of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Avanish Kajala of the Congress and Manisha Ahlawat of the Samajwadi Party (SP) this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Satya Prakash Agarwal had won the Meerut Cantt seat in 2017, as the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. Agarwal had beaten his closest rival Satendra Solanki by a margin of 76,619 votes. Solanki had contested that election on a BSP ticket.

In 2012 too the seat was won by Satya Prakash Agarwal of the BJP.
Meerut Cantt falls under Meerut district and the Meerut Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats – four of these are in the Meerut district and one in the Hapur district.

In Meerut Cantt, BJP has won five times and the Congress has won thrice since the 1977 elections.
The Meerut Cantt assembly constituency will vote in the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 10, 2022, along with 57 other constituencies in 11 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3.

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
