MS Dhoni moves Chennai Super Kings fans to tears with knock against Delhi Capitals

Former India wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni lived up to his reputation of being one of the finest finishers of the game as he helped the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enter the finals of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 with a cameo against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Dhoni’s 18 runs off six balls included a six and three boundaries in the last two overs as CSK crossed the target of 172 for a loss of six wickets in 19.4 overs.

Dhoni, who had faced flak for being not able to win matches for CSK in recent times, turned fans emotional with his knock.

After the match, a CSK fangirl was seen in tears after Dhoni pulled Tom Curran to take Chennai over the line. In a video that how now gone viral, the young girl is seen trying to hold back her tears as she is consoled by a woman next to her.

Admitting that it was ‘tough’ for CSK as a unit as they did not qualify last year, Dhoni thanked the support staff and the fans for all the support.

“It was tough when we didn’t qualify last time. Emotions were high. Credit goes to the support staff and everyone in the team,” he concluded.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli also hailed Dhoni’s knock. “Anddddd the king is back the greatest finisher in the game. Made me jump Outta my seat once again tonight,” Kohli tweeted.

DC will get another shot at making it to the final when they meet the winner of the eliminator between KKR and RCB scheduled Monday.
